World known architect, Rees Jones is currently working on a dazzling new golf course that will overlook Danzante Bay at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loréto. The 7,400 yard project will overlook the shimmering sea of Cortez and aims to work with the lay of the land.
Jones, designer of over 170 courses, certainly knows a thing or two about how to harmonize a course with the beauty of its surroundings. The aim of the 18-hole course is too pleasantly mix a challenging golf experience with a stunning view while complementing the landscape of the Island of Cortez. Together with his design team at Rees Jones Golf Course Design Inc., he is orchestrating the course to move and flow with the contours of the land and maximize the views on offer.
Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loréto is very aware of the environmental issues that arise when undertaking such a project and is keen to offset this. With that in mind it has a number of environmental programs designed to minimize the impact that tourism has upon the natural environment around Loreto. This ambitious project aims to use Paspalum turf which is perfect for the climate in Baja California.
Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loréto hope to offer guests and timeshare owners the chance to play on the first five holes of this wonderful new course by December 2014 and aims to offer an environment that will be equally enjoyable for the expert and amateur player. With a lake at the very centre of the course which will join holes 10 and 11, green contours that are manageable in the wind and sandy pockets to keep you on your toes, this course will have everything that marks the truly great from the average course.
At Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loréto you’ll be able to structure your day around your time on the course: a walk on the beach in the morning, some kayaking at noon, golf after lunch and a relaxing massage to end the day in the famed Sabila Spa. The perfect day is only a flight away when you’re a Villa del Palmar member!
